Food scientist, culinary scientist, or research chef

Folia Materials is looking for a food scientist, culinary scientist, or research chef to assist in identifying frozen foods that most benefit from our paper microwave packaging. This includes rapidly screening which foods do/don’t benefit, methodically creating packaging+microwave food demos, and formalizing the sensory benefit via surveys with internal and external stakeholders. Initial work will have the aim of creating sales demos to send off to frozen food CPGs. That would then lead into joint development work with those frozen food CPG(s) manufacturers

We are looking for someone who can rapidly test and create, selecting from any and all frozen foods.  Then can methodically create quantitative sensory measurements that are repeatable for sales demos. The ideal candidate would need to be able to understand the scientific mechanism at work in food formulations while being able to deliver information plainly to wide groups of people.

The ideal candidate is a food scientist, culinary scientist, or research chef who is creative and dynamic, but is also methodical.

The position is initially as a contractor or part time. However, we are open to full time work for the right candidate, or growing the position from part time to full time.

Location: Folia's lab/office in Bedford, MA.
