Culinary Science Intern/Tech
Research chef, culinary scientist
Folia Materials is looking for a part time/full time research culinary scientist intern/tech to test frozen foods that most benefit from our paper microwave packaging including rapidly screening which foods do/don’t benefit, methodically creating packaging+microwave food demos, and documenting the sensory benefit. Additionally, being able to collect data using a variety of collection method tools.
We are looking for someone who can rapidly test and methodically document repetitive tests. The ideal candidate is someone with a culinary science background who is creative and dynamic. Ideally a student, or someone fresh out of school. This is a paid position.
The position would be flexible as we are looking for part time or full time applicants. Work location is onsite at Folia's lab in Bedford. Car pooling may be available.

Culinary science for testing support
- Comparison testing of Folia’s microwave paper packaging against controls
- Demonstrate improved food quality from microwave food using Folia’s paper microwave food packaging
- Sensory and physical measurements to quantify taste, texture, and other changes from Folia’s packaging vs control
Activities
- Rapid screening of microwave frozen foods at Folia's lab in Bedford, MA
- Identify best frozen food targets from a food companies’ portfolio and help develop product demos
- Document sensory profiles for each product demo for sending to potential clients
- Learn how to use testing equipment and tools to provide quantitative data about the food and food packaging being tested
Qualifications
- Student or recent graduate (entry level position)
- Background: chef, culinary science, culinology, food science + culinary arts
- Any combination of formal culinary training or real world experience
- Bonus: experience in processed or frozen food, formulation or product development, descriptive sensory analysis
- Style: dynamic, rapid, quick, inventive, yet methodical and organized
